DUPUIS PARK
Dupuis Park was named after Jon Dupuis, a year round resident in Casa Loma, who took it upon himself to water the row of poplar trees originally planted in the park.
In 1978 the land for Dupuis Park was transferred to the Regional District in a deed transfer(gifted) by 15 original Casa Loma residents! The transfer to the RDCO came with strict instruction. The land use is limited to be used as a park for pleasure, recreation and community.
This unique parcel of land is truly enjoyed by all who live here. From baseball, frisbee, soccer,
endless games of tag, chestnut gathering, and all our CLCA social events; this park is well loved and a treasure to our residents.
In 2014 the process of getting upgraded playground equipment installed was started by one of our residents (and Mom), which was later approved by the City of West Kelowna.
The wooden posts surrounding the park continue to keep visitors safe from vehicles, while the “No Dogs Allowed” signage and increased bylaw patrols have made a noticeable difference in keeping the park clean. We do still see the occasional visitor with a dog, and we kindly remind everyone that dogs are not permitted in the park to ensure a safe and sanitary space for all. We’re also grateful to the City for adding a public washroom for park users.
Thank you to everyone who helps keep our parks (not just Dupuis!) looking great, and to those who generously share their nets and soccer balls so neighbourhood kids can stay active and enjoy the space together. Your kindness makes our community special!
