OF GREAT CONCERN TO CASA LOMA WATER UTILITIES WATER USERS.
OTHERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE
The Okanagan's water situation remains extremely concerning and record-low with yet another dry winter forecasted. With plenty of hot and dry weeks ahead, communities must conserve water now, including Casa Loma. It’s about as serious as it gets out there folks.
The Province asked our water system to reduce water use by 30% and they instituted less watering. We are only down by 9%. The state of folk’s lawns shows who is co-operating. (Keep your lawn <10cm for FireSmart). I wonder if you know what’s at stake. We could lose our private water system and be controlled by the Province or municipality (think water meters and far higher water bills!). Please read the Act summary on the last page of this letter and do your own research if you’re not convinced.

KALAMOIR PARK
UPDATE
The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) advises that areas of Kalamoir Regional Park impacted by the June 2026 wildfire will remain closed until necessary assessments and mitigation work have been completed and public safety can be assured.
Wildfire-affected areas may contain hazards that are not immediately visible, including damaged trees, weakened root systems, unstable slopes, erosion concerns, and other wildfire-related risks.
Since the wildfire, Parks Services has been working toward the safe reopening of impacted areas. Staff and qualified specialists continue to conduct detailed assessments of affected trails, infrastructure, and natural areas to identify hazards and determine what mitigation work may be required before public access can be restored.
Public safety remains the RDCO's highest priority as recovery and restoration efforts continue. Assessment and remediation work is ongoing, and a reopening date cannot be determined at this time. Fire-impacted areas will remain closed until hazards have been addressed and it is safe for residents and visitors to return.
Visitors are reminded to obey all posted signage, fencing and barricades and to stay out of closed areas. These restrictions are in place to protect the public while important recovery work is underway. Entering closed areas may place individuals at risk and interfere with ongoing assessment and restoration activities.
The RDCO appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents as this work continues. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available. Residents can visit rdco.com/parks or subscribe to RDCO updates for the latest information regarding Kalamoir Regional Park.

TO ALL CASA LOMA WATER UTILITY USERS
RESTRICTION OF NOTE
This week Casa Loma Water Utilities Ltd. received notice from the Drought Operations Team of the Water, Land and Resource Stewardship regarding drought conditions in the province.
The Ministry is asking all water users to voluntarily reduce water consumption for essential and non-essential purposes. The current level of Okanagan Lake is at a historical low, and further drops are expected as the summer advances. This is beginning to affect our pumping capacity.
It could also have devastating effects on fish, wildlife and agriculture, this year and future years. We are asking all users of Casa Loma Water Utilities to reduce their water consumption.
To avoid any further curtailments, we feel the best way to do our part is:
• If your yard is watered with an underground system reduce your sprinkling days from 3 days per week to 2 days per week. At the same time reduce the time each zone runs by approximately 30%. Maintain the odd/even sprinkling days with the same times. No
watering in the heat of the day.
• For manual sprinkling curtail yours watering time by approximately 30% and do not water in the heat of the day. Maintain the odd/even sprinkling days with the same times.
• No hand car-washing or driveway hosing
• Gardens can be hand watered
Voluntarily adhering to these additional restrictions will hopefully prevent the Ministry from mandating “no irrigation”. These drought conditions are historical and demand our attention.
We ask for your full cooperation.
Thank you in advance.
